ReCinder Lamp 6
ReCinder Lamp 6
ReCinder is a 100% recycled material made from discarded broken ceramic and waste ash that has been diverted from landfill.
ReCinder is a greener, waste-based alternative to industrially processed clay which utilises locally sourced ceramic waste collected from potters around London.
The material is self-glazing, eradicating the need for environmentally damaging and mined raw materials often used in ceramic glazes.
ReCinder is once fired at a lower temperature than conventional stoneware and requires just 53% of the energy needed for firing. Additionally, for every one sqm of tiles made, 24kg of waste are diverted from landfill.
The material is also versatile. As well as being suitable for tiling, furniture and tableware, most importantly it can be used for lighting due to its unique translucent quality. ReCinder is possibly the only 100% recycled ceramic materials currently capable of translucency.
